The Utility Trend 101
10 May 2024
You'll see it in street styles and in the pages of every glossy fashion magazine – the utility trend is back. From its early origins in workwear to its ‘90s comeback, now it’s on the rise again. For catwalks, this means the return of cargo trousers and jumpsuits (we’re on board). For us, it also means having a handbag BFF that’s ready for everything.
Putting our own modern (and signature) twist on the utility trend, we’ve combined fashion, function and practical features to make bags that are perfect for navigating city life. Stick around while we introduce the new styles our Design Team have created as part of the November Edit.
GARRICK STREET QUILT
With front pockets to house your hand sanitiser, keys, earphones (or any other mini essential), not to mention the comfortable webbing strap and dog-clip hardware. There’s no denying the new Garrick Street Quilt cross body bag is super functional. Crafted with leather in green and cream – two of the trend’s key colours.
Style tip: Pair your favourite shape with our chunky Chelsea boots and a leather trench coat to coordinate your utilitarian accessories.
“The past couple of years have given us all the need for extra pockets to carry those quick-to-access items, so we created Garrick Street as our on-trend solution. The edition with cuddly quilting on the back is my favourite.” – Lucy, Design Manager
POCKETS 2.0 QUILT
While we’re talking about everyday practicality, there’s an icon we need to mention. The Pockets 2.0 Quilt cross body bag combines utility details with the irresistible softness of oversized quilting. In other words, it’s the best friend that’s prepared for anything and always there for a hug.
Style tip: Swap the clip-on key fob for a zipped bag charm for even more storage space.
This isn’t the only Autumn/Winter trend we’re loving. Head over to Radley Stories to read all about our bling bags for the party season. While you’re there, you can also check out all the New In styles from our November Edit.
