Sustainability at Radley London
Our Suppliers
21 April 2023
“DO THE RIGHT THINGS, THE RIGHT WAY, FOR THE PEOPLE AND BY THE PEOPLE.”
It’s our partner motto here at Radley London.
Every person within our supply chain, regardless of gender, sexual or religious orientation or belief is treated equally. With the same salary structure, the same management and support across our partners. Our Audit programme supports this and is reported on yearly. Visibility across our network is vitally important to make sure our people are taken care of.
This includes the suppliers of our suppliers so we can be sure the full chain is compliant with our high standards. All are signed up to Carbon Zero and Brand ESG (environmental, social and governance) strategies too. By forecasting accurately, we can manage manufacturing efficiencies to support our Production Partners in keeping to these strategies. This is measured with factors such as:
Using renewable energy
Managing waste responsibly
Disclosing information on all environmental policies
Efficient energy use. Some of our partners have invested in solar energy, providing enough energy to power their facilities and even sell back to the national grid
ADVOCATING FOR CHANGE
Our key Partners in India spent time with local authorities to invest in more advanced local water treatment plants. They link with the West Bengal Pollution Control Board in Kolkata, in conjunction with Calcutta Leather Complex Tanneries Association to better manage wastewater from industry processes.
GUARANTEEING A SAFE WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Some of those ‘right’ things include only working with supply partners who provide an enhanced living wage to their workers, and additionally provide pension and benefit schemes under localised legislation.
They also have to sign up to these labour promises:
HOW WE DO IT
From the beginning of Radley London (25 years and counting) – that’s how long we’ve worked with some our suppliers (now friends)
Regular visits – our London team make several visits a year to our partners in India
Annual audits – for the full supply chain. These are geared toward safety, development, and care for the people and the environment
Support and training – for suppliers who need guidance to meet the audit standards
